Miley Cyrus Records Song to Free the Nipple

by Natalia Hadjigeorgiou

“Free The Nipple” is a film with a mission to empower women across the world. It is an equality movement that stands up against female oppression and censorship prevalent around the world.

The film, inspired by true events, follows a group of young women in New York City who protest the archaic censorship laws. It is illegal for a woman to be topless (including breastfeeding) in 35 states. The director of the film, Lina Esco told Variety, “This is about equality,” Esco says. “You can show beheadings on Facebook, but you can’t show breastfeeding. If you’re going to censor nudity and love, you should censor violence.”

One big supporter of the film is Miley Cyrus. Cyrus took to Twitter to show her dedication to the project. It only makes sense that Cyrus would contribute to the film! She will be covering the song, “Look What They Done to My Song, Ma,” for the soundtrack.

Check out the trailer here. The film opens in theaters Dec. 12.
