Glen Pannell has found one of the most creative ways to fight back against Trump and Pence — by dressing up as a pantsless Mike Pence and raising money for Planned Parenthood, The Trevor Project and other great organizations.
Pannell, a graphic designer and actor, looks remarkably like the Vice President-elect, and he decided to make good use of the resemblance.
According to Refinery29, Pannell first dressed up as “Mike Hot-Pence” for Halloween, but in December, he took to Times Square in the costume to raise money for organizations including Planned Parenthood, The Trevor Project, and the National Resources Defense Council.
“The depression kept feeding on itself so I finally decided I had to do something, and it had to be bold and immediate, something I could point to at the end of the day and say, ‘Here’s what I did to make change,’” Pannell told Buzzfeed.
He added, ““People want to give and they want to talk. I’m 51. I never expect anything I do to go viral online,” he said. “I do understand why people respond to it. It’s funny, and it’s hopeful, and people need that right now.”
“Mike Hot-Pence” is also active on Twitter, sharing some fire tweets, as well as Facebook.
“Isn’t it nice to imagine a bizarre through-the-looking-glass alternate reality where there’s a Mike Pence who champions women’s health and LGBTQ rights and the environment?” Pannell told The Huffington Post. “Well that’s me!”
That’s an alternative reality we’d like to live in.
