Our favorite FLOTUS is back, with a metaphorical burn for Donald Trump. During a discussion at the Simmons Leadership Conference in Boston, Obama used a parenting metaphor to compare her husband’s style with Trump’s: “I always sort of felt like the eight years that Barack was president, it was sort of like having the good parent at home,” she said. “And now perhaps we have the other parent in the house.” Read her full statement at Time.

Alaska Narrowly Rejects A Bathroom Bill

This Friday, Alaskans voted against Proposition 1, which would have repealed a bill that allowed transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice and prohibited employment and public service discrimination based on gender identity. But the vote was quite close — Friday’s unofficial results showed 52.7% of voters opposed the repeal while 47.3% supported it, according to CNN. We’re thrilled that Alaska stood up for what’s right — but the narrow margin of  victory shows how far we still have to go. Read the full story at CNN.

1 Killed And 6 Injured In Trump Tower Fire

This Saturday, a 67-year old man was killed when a fire broke out in his Trump Tower apartment. In response, Trump tweeted: “Fire at Trump Tower is out. Very confined (well built building). Firemen (and women) did a great job. THANK YOU!” He neglected to mention the casualty, or the fact that none of his higher-floor residential apartments have sprinklers. Read more at AP News.
