Manic Pixie Dream Gyros and More: The AV Club’s Perfect Cookbook

by Sarah Fonder

The AV Club might have the best community of any blog ever, which can quickly be seen in the fan-made masterpiece that just surfaced on their website. Commenter Captaindada’s has made a perfect cookbook in To First Man, full of pop culture-inspired joke recipes you can actually cook! Much like the site’s commenters, these recipes cut deep, like in the “Pizza House” recipe that you would assume is referencing House but is actually referencing our dorky queen Peggy Olson. Other highlights include the flawless “This Is My Last Risotto,” “The Chris Brown” sandwich (“a piece of shit on a bagel”), and, of course, “The Manic Pixie Dream Gyro.” BUST readers will probably enjoy selections like “The Chloe Sevign Layer Dip” and The Simpsons-inspired “Lisa Needs Braised Ribs!” All this gold is sure to please the biggest pop culture snobs you know, and it’s a blast to read. Seriously, it is less than 44 pages, and you should read all of them. (You should also make these recipes and tell us how they turned out, because we’re intrigued.)

Good job, indeed, internet. Good job.
