Macaulay Culkin Is A Washed Up Version of His Home-Alone Character In This Webseries

by Holiday Black

Right about now I’m having some major flashbacks to the ’90s—maybe it’s because the holidays always bring childhood memories to the forefront. Really, I’m just thinking about loafing in my grandma’s living room and watching Home Alone on repeat. There was something about Macauly Culkin’s character, a lone eight-year-old struggling to defend himself in a Chicago suburb that aroused a special breed of elementary school fear in me as I shoveled lukewarm macaroni noodles down my throat.

It’s no surprise, given the degree of insanity that Kevin McCallister endured, that the adult version of him would be a little…well…rough and tumble, to say the least. This new web series promises to show us the hilarious version of post-Home Alone McCalister all-grown-up. His first line in the new webseries is: “No, actually, everything is not okay.”

I don’t at all doubt that having been abandoned by your parents would leave you feeling pretty busted. In case you’re having a hard time unearthing all the terrifying scenes of Home Alone, let me just remind you that there was at least 30 minutes of straight-up booby trap action and that at one point a mannequin is actually set ON FIRE!

In the first scene, Culkin goes off on some sort of exasperated rampage about how he wound up “driving his coked up wife’s car for an off-brand rideshare company.” He then goes into a rampage about pretty much…all the baggage one would only assume to be normal, had you been in Kevin McCallister’s shoes in a chaperone-less suburb in the 90s. Episode one has me chuckling and I can’t wait for more.
