The Meaning of the Eclipses of Spring 2022, According to Astrology

by Lisa Stardust

The first eclipses of 2022 occur on April 30 at 4:28 PM ET in Taurus and May 16 in Scorpio at 12:15 AM ET. This set of eclipses will help us glow and grow in the upcoming months, as well as pushing us to take responsibility and accountability for our actions in order to evolve. We may change our paths or see matters in a different light, as we are being cosmically gifted with knowledge which will help us become the people we always wanted to be. The flip side is that we may become too power hungry and more business minded as a result.

The Solar Eclipse on April 30 in Taurus

A solar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Moon, and Earth are all aligned in the sky. During this time, the Moon is very close to the ecliptic plane. This particular one is a partial solar eclipse. Not all of the Sun will be obscured by the Moon’s shadow. The light from the Sun won’t be visible on Earth and we will literally be in the dark for the duration of the eclipse. Without the Sun, we can’t see situations clearly and confusion will ensue as a result.

This solar eclipse is an ideal time to manifest money or to get a jumpstart on making realistic decisions in love. We can use this cosmic opportunity as a chance to bring our dreams into reality by using pragmatism and realism. We can also put an end to family and personal squabbles now and move forward in a nice direction with those we love.

Being that the Sun and Moon are aligning in Taurus, we look to see what their planetary ruler Venus is doing on that day. Luckily, Venus is making an auspicious aspect to Jupiter in Pisces (their favorite placements). We can expect to feel positive, creative, artistic, kind hearted, tender, and loving throughout the day — also to be given these sentiments by others.

The Total Lunar Eclipse on May 15 in Scorpio

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon moves close to the Earth’s shadow during a Full Moon, after the Sun, Moon, and Earth are in exact alignment in the sky. The Moon retracts an orange tinge from the reflection of the Sun in the Earth’s atmosphere, making it a beautiful and magical cosmic phenomenon.

Lunar eclipses bring matters to light in unpredictable ways. Therefore, the only way to prepare for them is to expect the unexpected. Oftentimes, they shake up relationships and situations that need to be augmented and changed, with the hopes of supplementing a better outcome for the future in its place. They allow us to see into our lives and make improvements — even if we don’t want to, the universe will do so for us.

This lunar eclipse occurs in Scorpio, ending the story that began under the New Moon on November 15, 2020. We are wrapping up that part of our lives and taking the lessons we learned while moving into a different direction. As karmic Saturn and transformative Pluto guide us to evolve, we’ll only opt to move forward if our sense of emotional security is strong. Letting go of toxic situations is hard, as we can be addicted to the drama. Having an exit strategy from things that aren’t helping us evolve on the right path is important to get going in a healthier and better direction.

What happens during eclipses reflects where we are in our lives. Being that we are in flux, we can always make changes and grow. These are just moments in time that we can and will survive — no matter how hard or frustrating they are. You got this!
