BUST loves female comedians. Specifically, we love women who can stand up on a stage and strongly speak the truth in a straightforward, funny, and accessible way, and not be afraid to push boundaries, take chances, and be vulnerable or sexy or simply themselves. And we laugh with them because on some level we identify with the truth of their words and worldviews. No matter how strange or bizarre their stories can be, there is a level of reality that we can look at and recognize.
Which is why we are so excited about a new comedy show by Leslie Meisel and Megan Neuringer, aptly entitled Love Can Suck a Dick…and So Can I! Performing at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre in Chelsea, the show is definitely an interesting take on the “one woman show.” Using a mix of scripted material and improvisation audience participation, the show is definitely comedy and theater at its finest and as it should be – real, in the moment.
Neuringer wrote and directed the show, with characters created by and performed by Meisel to take a unique look on heartbreak and relationships.
After having sold out houses in both New York and LA, the show is currently on its six month run at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theater.
