Lorde is once again proving that she is as royal as her name (and her Grammy award-winning single) suggest. It’s just been announced that the singer is set to release the lead single, as well as curate the soundtrack, for Mockingjay – Part 1, the first film of the final installment of the Hunger Games trilogy.
The 17-year old singer/songwriter commented that compiling the soundtrack and working with all of the artists involved was a challenging and unique experience. She went on to say that the soundtrack, when released via Republic Records this fall, is “definitely going to surprise people.”
Lorde no doubt has some big shoes to fill, considering Sia’s epic collaboration with Diplo on the lead single to the Catching Fire soundtrack. But something tells me that this boss chica is more than up to the challenge.
Mockingjay – Part 1 hits theaters worldwide on November 21st, but there’s no official release date yet for the soundtrack or the new single. Urrgh! But fear not, eager fans, because in the meantime, you can buy tickets to one of her upcoming shows—the North American leg of her tour kicks off tomorrow at Lollapalooza.
