New York BUSTies, you are in for a treat! Jesymn Ward, author of the National Book Award-winning novel Salvage the Bones, will be at the NYPL as a part of the LIVE series. She will be discussing her acclaimed novel, which deals with a family’s struggle with poverty and sacrifice in the days leading up to and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, with NYPL Director of Public Programs Paul Holdengräber. “There is something about living through Katrina and hardship that refines who people are, I think,” she believes, “that showcases their most essential selves.” She will also talk about the craft of writing and the importance of place and real-life experience in her work.
