Last month, I almost got to see Hunx & His Punx in Cambridge, MA. But being a college student with no car, I was cut off by the regional rail schedule and had to stay in the studio, cutting paper or something. Tears were running down my face. (Maybe.) I almost got to see Seth Bogart shake his hot buns in front of me. I almost got to admire the getup of the Punkettes live. I almost got to sassily yell, “Hello? Why are you calling me? I found someone new. So get bent!”
While I wait for the day that God gives me another chance to see Hunx & His Punx, I’m glad I have Too Young To Be In Love (Released on March 29, 2011 by Hardly Art) to listen to. Their collection of debut singles, Gay Singles (Matador/True Panther; 2010) is on the danceable, sassy side, while their newest release reveals a more serious tone with slower beats. (Think sad Shangri-Las.) Regardless, both albums are super catchy; I can’t stop putting the tracks on repeat. Get their tunes pronto through Hardly Art or iTunes.
My Hunx Favorites: “You Don’t Like Rock N Roll”, “Gimmie Gimmie Back Your Love”, “Good Kisser”, “Lover’s Lane”, “The Curse of Being Young”, “Bad Boy”
