Leon Bridges’ fourth studio album, Leon, is another musical masterpiece. Inspired by Bridges’ upbringing in Fort Worth, TX, Leon epitomizes nostalgia and childhood reminiscence and highlights both the beauty and the pain of growing up. “Panther City” will have you smiling along to a Nintendo 64 and a Little Debbie’s baked goods reference while “Peaceful Place” may induce a deep exhale while you bop around to nonstop bongos that only Bridges himself could manage to make sound soothing. It wouldn’t be a Leon Bridges album without romance; both “Ain’t Got Nothing on You” and “Ghetto Honeybee” will have you swooning and may even partially restore your belief in love again. Bridges has done it again with an album that’s a thoughtful lyrical and musical story from start to finish..
