Lady Misogynist: Women Should Expect To Get Raped In the Military

by Intern Chrislande

Fox News contributor Liz Trotta recently spewed a very hateful and contemptible rant against women in the military that will leave you angered and confused. When asked to comment on changes in the Pentagon’s policies towards women that may put them in jobs closer to the front line of warfare, Trotta thought it was a great opportunity to re-victimize victims of military rape, hint that sexual abuse is expected in the military, and blame “the feminists” for federal overspending:

And the feminists have also directed them, really, to spend a lot of money. They have  sexual  counselors all over the place, victims’ advocates, sexual response coordinators…So, you have this whole bureaucracy upon bureaucracy being built up with all kinds of levels of people to support women in the military who are now being raped too much.

Is she kidding me? What the f*ck does being “raped too much” mean? The Pentagon should not care that their soldiers are getting raped because it costs too much money? There is a problem in the military if there are “sexual counselors all over the place”?
Even Fox host Eric Shawn appeared to be in disbelief when Trotta replied, “Nice try, Eric,” and laughed in response to his concerns about the safety of troops. Check out the exchange here:

Besides the fact that I can respectably call Mrs. Trotta a madwoman and an all-around hater, there is some good news in the fact that she has something to be mad about. The problem of rape in the military, a fear for women soldiers as they represent and fight for our country, isbeing addressed by the Pentagon. I can only hope that the Liz Trottas of the world can stay away from these efforts– and that no one takes their fanatical rants seriously.
Rape can be fought with education and determination, and maybe out of the military’s efforts will come programs that we can use in our communities, too.
