Mark your calendars, girls! On April 8, Ann Brashares is releasing her newest book, The Here and Now. The novel follows Prenna James, a time traveling seventeen year old who returns to the present-day in attempt to save humanity from a plague that will end all life on earth.
Brashares, the author who defined a generation of girls with her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series, has ventured into strange and nearly sci-fi territory with her new book — but like the Pants heroines, Prenna still grapples with young love. Even though she lives under the strict condition that she not fall for anyone from the “past,” the lady can’t quite help herself when Ethan Jarves comes along.
To promote her new novel, Brashares has teamed up with SNL and Suburgatory’s Ana Gasteyer to talk about the book…and Gasteyer has a little trouble accepting that there aren’t any pants in the story. Well, there are pants, but it’s not about the pants. Like people wear pants, but in a regular way.
Refusing to accept that I’m ever too old for a good YA novel, I’ll be picking up The Here and Nowas soon as it hits the shelves.
