Inside NeueHouse’s 10-Year Legacy Celebration

Enter the world of NeueHouse, a private membership club for creators, innovators, and thought leaders looking to work, socialize and connect, where innovation meets inspiration. NeueHouse provides a social haven to work at and build a community that has been lost to the new work from home norm, giving everyone in any industry a place to belong. This opulent community commemorated its remarkable 10-year journey, in partnership with Lucid, where a vibrant tapestry of creativity unfolded against the backdrop of Manhattan’s illustrious Flatiron District.

Artist Richard Phillips notes, “Since its beginnings a decade ago, NeueHouse has always stood out to me in New York as a vibrant meeting place of creativity from a cross-section of disciplines. A surf film premiere and interviews with Kelly Slater and Taylor Steele to literary readings with Salman Rushdie to recently discussing music and art with Robin Clark and Carlos Alomar, my experiences at NeueHouse have been a wellspring of inspiration and discovery!”

From immersive art performances to electrifying musical showcases, NeueHouse’s anniversary extravaganza was a celebration like no other. Renowned luminaries such as Brian Lawson, Stefanie Batten Bland, and Juan Miguel Marin graced the event with their mesmerizing talents.

But the festivities didn’t end there. Singer-songwriter Katini Yamaoka serenaded the crowd with her soulful melodies, complemented by the infectious beats of DJ MOJOXOJO, transforming the venue into a hub of creative expression.

NeueHouse is a haven of luxury designed by the legendary David Rockwell. The Member’s Resturant and Gallery Bar, launched post pandemic showcase the Rockwell Group’s signature style as soon as you walk in the door. From the individual workspaces and conference rooms, to the new podcast studio, and the intimate Cinema by NeueHouse, plush interiors extend throughout the space. The Cinema is eagerly awaited to be officially unveiled but members got an exclusive peek at the cinema during the anniversary party. DJ RhythmRich, a true maven of sound and style, took over the space and transformed it into a pulsating hub of rhythm and movement. With each beat, his tribal funk jams perfectly complemented NeueHouse’s urban spiritual vibe – a testament to the fusion of artistry and innovation that defines the NeueHouse experience.

When it’s not booming with DJ’s and dancers, the Cinema by NeueHouse is a sanctuary where members can indulge, complete with artisanal delights and curated cocktails. It’s a theater like no other, which few members have gotten to preview at Andrew Saffir’s recent film society screenings, including “Are You There God It’s Me Margaret” and Q&A with Rachel McAdams, “Faraway Downs” hosted by Baz Luhrmann, “Barbie” screening and conversation with Billie Eilish, Finneas O’Connell and “The Mission” starring and attended by Jessica Chastain, Jake Gyllenhall.

“The NeueHouse Cinema is everything I love in a screening room. It’s luxurious and chic — the great David Rockwell designed it, so how could it not be super-stylish — and it’s also very private, which is important for the screenings I do, and the caliber of people that frequent them. The space also offers artisanal candy among other culinary treats and drinks, making it the perfect moviegoing experience,” says Saffir.

Meanwhile, choreographer extraordinaire Stefanie Battan Bland infused the event with her signature flair, orchestrating captivating performances that explored the dynamic interplay between labor and creativity. Her activation of the house is in the likes of other A-Listers from all corners of the creative sphere, including Ai Wei Wei, Andre Leo Talley, Chris Blackwell, Cynthia Rowley, David Duchovny, George Clinton, Graydon Carter, Jason Wu, Joan Juliet, Julian Schnabel, Jon Batiste, Buck, Kelly Slater, Lee Jaffee, Lori Anderson, Marina Abramovic, Matthew Modine, Philip Glass, Quentin Tarantino, Wu Tang Clan, Virgil Abloh and many more.

But perhaps the true essence of NeueHouse lies in its diverse community of trailblazers and tastemakers. From industry titans to rising stars, each member contributes to a culture that celebrates talent and fosters excellence across every medium imaginable. “I was very keen to be part of the Neuehouse family from the beginning, and wanted to be part of the creative playground that they embraced. During these 10 years, they have attracted incredible talents, and am so happy that this will continue for years to come,” noted Chris Blackwell.

During NeueHouse’s highly anticipated 10th anniversary gala, Sarita Tabarez, the General Manager, expertly navigated the intricate personalities that populate the vibrant community with effortless grace throughout the evening. This deep-seated knowledge, coupled with her visionary leadership, has propelled NeueHouse to the forefront of innovation.

Under her watchful eye, NeueHouse has undergone a dazzling transformation, with over $6 million in renovations breathing new life into its storied halls. From the Cinema by NeueHouse to the chic lounge, private members restaurant, and exclusive member floors, every corner of the venue bears the unmistakable stamp of Tabarez’s extraordinary oversight.

From the Gallery Bar, Cafe, Cinema by Neuehouse, to the Podcast Studio, all 8 floors in the building with the hopes of continuing to expand onto the other floors as they become available. Do we talk about the downmarket in office leasing but yet we have a demand and wait list not to mention that unlike other brands we have stood the test of time.  We continue to elevator the experience and continue to invest in amenities for the members.

RoseLee Goldberg, the founding director and chief curator of Performa noted, “NeueHouse is where I like to start my day – if I am meeting artists or writers, or board members or friends, it provides just the right balance of formal and relaxed, social and professional – and everyone loves to meet there. NeueHouse has also hosted many Performa conversations, screenings, and previews,  and membership is a great sounding board for new ideas. NeueHouse really “works”, in concept and reality.”

In the ever-evolving landscape of creative sanctuaries, NeueHouse stands as a beacon of innovation and inclusivity, drawing visionaries from all corners of the globe to its iconic locations in Hollywood and Venice Beach. At the heart of this cultural phenomenon lies a bond between its leaders and the vibrant community they serve.

“Neuehouse became a much-loved creative hub in NYC and changed the way we all work—long before that Pandemic. It is always a joy to spend time there and attend many of the great programs,” said Fern Mallis, founder of New York Fashion Week.

In an era where traditional boundaries are fading, NeueHouse stands as a beacon of possibility, blurring the lines between work and play, day and night. NeueHouse emerges not just as a space but as a testament to the transformative power of community and collaboration. From its bustling corridors to its intimate workspaces, it’s a place where creativity knows no bounds—a true House of style, substance, and forward-thinking.
