As much as “Adore You” is a song for new beginnings and the excitement of new love, “Cherry” is about the gloom and sadness of a breakup. In Harry’s words, “‘Cherry’ is about . . . I wanted it to reflect how I felt then. I was feeling not great. It’s all about being not great. Because, you get petty when things don’t go the way you want it. There’s parts that’s so pathetic.” Harry is completely relatable as he walks us through his fight with his powerful emotions of jealousy and longing after his public breakup with French model Camille Rowe. The pair dated for a year, and as Harry puts his sadness to the song, he also includes a voicemail from Rowe at the very end to emphasize his longing for the relationship they shared. In “Cherry,” Harry references how there is a little bit of his lost love in the way he dresses, and I think that’s so touching and endearing, as well as truthful. We take a little piece of everyone we love and hold them with us even after they are gone. The “Cherry” Earrings are a nod to the idea of carrying the good parts of the story on with us, even if it had to come to an end. These little “Cherry” Earrings are so sweet and fun to crochet. Stuff piece firmly.
