5 Fierce Hijab Fashion Bloggers You Should Follow On Instagram ASAP

by Morgan Gartner

Oh Instagram! Your glorious existence has brought us hours of semi-entertainment, scrolling through pictures of food, cats and the wonderfully/horrific magic of #throwbackthursday. While Insta has long been the birthplace of trends — memes and makeup alike — there is a growing number of fashion accounts of a different kind. These are accounts celebrating the magnificence of women who wear hijabs and other Muslim head coverings (and looking fierce as hell).

When many of these accounts began, they were reported as spam by Islamaphobes and taken down by Instagram. These women fought back, creating and recreating accounts and amassing both likes and followers until they drowned out all of their haters. Since then, these accounts have grown exponentially in both number and popularity—totally not hard to understand. I mean, these women are not just fashion gurus, they’re also business owners, students, mothers, makeup artists…the list goes on! While all these ladies are major bosses, we’ve listed our top five favorites:

5. @saimasmileslike

We love Saima Chowdhury for so many reasons! Her outfits and makeup are obviously always on point, but the real reason we love her is for her vlogging. Her hijab tutorials and outfit of the day videos are super funny, and she’s charismatic and fun to watch. Saima is also a talented photographer (plus she’s a lover of Doctor Who, what more could you want?). We also love anyone with “feminist” proudly proclaimed in their Insta bio.

4. @ ascia_afk

ascia

Ascia and her husband Ahmad, a.k.a. the Hybrids, started blogging a few years ago and are now known around the world for their lifestyle/fashion blog and YouTube channel. Since then, Ascia has become known independently for her amazing style and her Vogue-quality photoshoots. She owns her own business, too! Ascia is the owner of Desert Baby, a company that makes fashionable and safe baby slings as well as baby shoes for those who aspire to be just as fabulous as Ascia from a very young age. No wonder she has 1.7 million followers.

3. @bashharry

bash

Bash Harry is a freelance makeup and special effects artist. Her Instagram is a combination of her on-point makeup, her flawless outfits with hijabs of all different colors and styles, and…books! Fashion blogger and bookstagram? We’re hooked. Oh, and did we mention she’s only 18? I could barely put on liquid eyeliner at 18, and every new look that @bashharry posts is flawless.

2. @queenofluna

queen

@queenofluna is definitely a queen. She is a makeup artist and cosplayer who incorporates her hijab into all of her cosplays! Whether it’s Harley Quinn pigtails or Tinkerbell’s bun or Ryuk of Death Note’s wild hair, she incorporates her hijab in a seemingly endless number of creative ways. We love to see her do her makeup in the style of all of the Disney princesses and villains and, while she’s not quite like the others in this list, her talent (and all-around awesomeness) has us anxiously awaiting her next post.

1.  @hijabfashion

hijabfashion

While this account doesn’t feature any one woman, it is our favorite hijab fashion Instagram. This account features women from all over Insta proudly wearing their hijabs—and looking gorgeous doing it. Because this account is constantly posting links to new accounts, it’s a great way to find new hijab fashion accounts. @hijabfashion is like a “best-of” list for these ladies and we definitely this it’s worth a follow, along with about two million others.
