Hey! Panty Raiders!

by Phoebe Magee

Listen up.  You have one week to prepare your bid for the 2010 Panties Princess crown (Princes are also welcome).

Interested?  Intrigued?

Unlike most bids for power, this is your chance to do something truly good for other people, and for young women in particular.  Days For Girls, a program that operates out of Washington State as part of the larger organization “Project Thrive,” is asking for donations of new underwear to be sent to orphanages in Third World countries.  Any underwear you send to Project Thrive headquarters completes a Days for Girls kit, which also includes washable, re-usable sanitary napkins for adolescent girls living in these orphanages.  Days for Girls started when Project Thrive organizers and volunteers in Kenya learned that, without access to feminine hygiene products, girls and women were waiting out menstruation in their rooms.  So a kit gives a girl back her day.

The girl, boy, or group that sends the most panties to Project Thrive by September 1st wins the Panty Princess tiara.  The honor system is in play, so if you can’t get the panties to Washington State by September 1st, you can notify Project Thrive of how many you are sending to be included in the contest.  Send your panties to:  Project Thrive, 810 H Street Road, Lynden, WA 98264, ATTN: Days for Girls.
