Hey, Brooklyn! Come Celebrate Three Months of Community Art

by Maggie Carr

Artist and designer Mike Perry opted to celebrate the release of his monograph Wondering Around Wandering in a non-traditional way: instead of a standard launch party, Perry created a pop-up exhibition of the same name in his Brooklyn neighborhood. The warehouse-turned-gallery eventually gained a new use as a community art space, playing host to pumpkin-painting parties, school groups, art workshops, and performances.

As with all good things, Wondering Around Wandering’s three-month residency is coming to a close…and you—yes, you!—are invited to come celebrate.

This upcoming Tuesday, November 20th, suit up in your finest garb and wander over to 983 Dean St. in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights to sip on some complimentary cocktails, don some schmancy boutonnieres, and groove to three of Brooklyn’s finest musical acts amidst the art from 8 PM to 1 AM.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door; VIP tickets are $50. All ticket proceeds (and 25 percent of artwork sales) will benefit Hurricane Sandy relief efforts through New York Cares. Be there or be square!
