Here’s Our First Sneak Peek At The New Powerpuff Girls

by Kathryn Hensch

They’re made of sugar, spice, everything nice, and some Chemical X – and they’re coming back to the silver screen in 2016. Cartoon Network recently announced that The Powerpuff Girls will be resurrected ten years after the final episode. The only media released so far is the above photo, depicting the new voices of Townsville’s resident guardians: Amanda Leighton, Kristen Li and Natalie Palamides. Tom Kenny will reprise his role as the Narrator-Mayor. Cue serious nostalgia and complete and utter excitement!

The show stars Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, tiny superheroes who fight crime and the forces of evil (as the theme song says). Through their example, the show reminded us that little girls could kick ass just like the boys. Even though they may not have gotten along all the time, the girls stuck together and empowered each other, providing a superb-and necessary-example of female camaraderie.
