The Latest Initiative From The Women’s March Is Urging Us To Speak Up #HearOurVote

by Laura McMahon

Here at BUST, we know that voting is an invaluable power, which is why we are showing our support now and always to the Women’s March initiative and their 10 Actions / 100 Days campaign.

The 10 Actions / 100 Days Campaign was created to help build communities of activism and resistance by making resources more readily available.

For the sixth action in their campaign, Women’s March is asking everyone to register to vote and to familiarize themselves with the upcoming elections in their areas.

The “Hear Our Vote” camapaign was created to help highlight the importance of registering to vote and using your voice at a local, state and federal level. Equally, it aims to increase awareness about voter suppression and how it is still a problematic issue, especially for minority groups in the United States.

Another one of the actions brought forward by the Women’s March initiative and the 10 Actions / 100 Days campaign urges us to get in formation. The organization is encouraging local activists to get together in a “community huddle” in order to motivate other members of the community to get involved and to get voting.

We don’t have to wait until the next presidential election to make our voices heard. We need elected officials who represent and support our communities at every level. There are special local and state elections, as well as the 2018 midterm elections to prepare for. Check your registration status, register, and mark your calendars.
