Have Yourself a ‘Murray Little Christmas’

by Maggie Carr

It’s time for one of BUST’s most beloved holiday traditions: entertainer Murray Hill’s annual Christmas extravaganza!

Head to Le Poisson Rouge in New York’s West Village this Saturday, December 15th, for the famed drag king’s cheeky and comedic variety show. This year, Murray’s motley crew finds that the theater they’ve booked is still out of commission following Hurricane Sandy—but the show must go on! Guided by a magical elf, the “hardest working middle-aged man in show business” beats the odds to deliver an entertaining and giggle-filled evening of music, dance, and comedy.

Expect guest appearances by bawdy cabaret chanteuse Bridget Everett, performance artist Erin Markey, actor/musician/occasional elf Carmine Covelli, the New York City Burlesque Choir, and Murray’s house band The Craig’s List Quartet. Santa and Rudolph may also stop by.

We’re especially psyched because a portion of the show’s proceeds will benefit the Ali Forney Center, a homeless shelter for LGBT youth, that was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. It’s a great cause and a great show—you simply can’t not be there.

Tickets start at $20 and you can get ‘em on LPR’s website. But hurry—”A Very Murray Christmas” is likely to sell out!
