The Handmaid’s Tale Full Trailer was Released And It’s Chilling

As if there were anything that could make us more excited about Hulu’s new series The Handmaid’s Tale, the full trailer was just released and it is bone chillingly good. Based on Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel, the series takes place in a future where women are subject to brutal oppression under a strict religious regime.

The trailer consists of a series of flashbacks that give context as to how things got so bad. The main character Offred, played by Elizabeth Moss, explains how she was “asleep before” as scenes flash showing the new religious regime placing more restrictions on women. Offred becomes one of the Handmaids, and scenes of other handmaids cloaked in red are shown, lying between wives legs to ‘procreate’ with masters. The trailer is a chilling look at what could happen if rights were stripped away from women.

The show will premiere on Hulu on April 27th of this year. Here’s the trailer to get a sneak peak:
