Go for the Olympic Gold With Etsy Accessories

by Diana Denza

With the Olympic Games in full swing, there’s no shortage of gaudy gear that the blogosphere keeps urging us all to stock up on. Decking out your apartment in red, white, and blue can be spirited and fun. Plastering American flag lip art across your pucker…not so much.

Keeping that in mind, there are easy ways to go for the fashion gold with accessories you can rock long after the Closing Ceremony on August 12. With these five versatile Etsy picks, you won’t need a medal (or scarlet eye shadow) to make an impression.

Geometric Bracelet in Sparkle Black Gold, $24.90, etsy.com

You might be rooting for Team USA, but you’ll be helping the globe with this eco-friendly cuff bracelet. Crafted in India from cardboard spools and silk cotton, it’s a stunning conversation starter (or changer –sports-talk isn’t exactly my strong point).

Vintage Brass Honey Comb Earrings, $38, etsy.com

These handmade vintage brass earrings are as sweet as honey. Plus, they’ll remind fellow spectators of clusters of gold medals.

Elegant Black and Gold Headband, $9, etsy.com

Forget silver or bronze and keep your hair golden with a hand sewn band. This is one hairy situation we wouldn’t mind getting caught up in!

Swirling floral etched into gold cuff bracelet, $64, etsy.com

This gleaming gold cuff bracelet was painstakingly shaped by hand and etched with a pretty floral pattern. Nugold, the type of brass used to create the piece, is also referred to as “Merlin’s Gold”. How fitting is that? And it only gets better: it’ll be delivered to your door wrapped in Earth-friendly recycled paper, adding even more bang for your buck.

Crocheted Golden Leaves Beaded Necklace, $58, etsy.com

Show off your originality (no athletic skills needed, but props to the all-stars out there) with this funky necklace. Crotched by hand and topped off with a vintage button closure, it’s the perfect statement piece when you’re watching the games from the comfort of your air conditioned home.
