When Brooklyn-based artist Caledonia Curry, AKA “Swoon,” found herself at a table with activist, writer, and all-around goddess Gloria Steinem, she literally gave her the ring off her finger. We are all green with envy. It was the all too perfect scenario of meeting your feminist role model while wearing a vagina-inspired accessory and having the gusto to be like, “Gloria Steinem, will you wear my clit ring?” (Okay, so she probably didn’t say those exact words, but we can dream.)
The “Clitoring” was re-gifted to Steinem after being given to Caledonia Curry by Penelopijones at a dinner the night before. (But we’re sure Steinem doesn’t mind, as she is not Emily Post.) These anatomically-correct silver and gold rings are handcrafted to celebrate the beauty of the internal clitoris—the only organ in the human body with no other function than to feel pleasure.
