Writer/producer Jon Avnet (of Black Swan and Fried Green Tomatoes fame) and director Rodrigo Garcia (Albert Nobbs) have teamed with YouTube to produce a series of five- to eight-minute dramas for the site’s new lady-friendly, online-only channel, Wigs. (Its logo, above, looks a bit like it’s advertising a fancy new OB/GYN clinic, but we’ll try not to hold it against them). Since Avnet and Garcia have serious Hollywood clout, they were able to rope in an impressive list of stars, including Jennifer Garner, Dakota Fanning, and Julia Stiles. Check out a preview below:

Each miniseries will focus on one leading lady and will be titled after the main character. The first up, Jan, premieres May 14 and stars newcomer Catilin Gerad (in the title role), Virginia Madsen, and Stephen Moyer. There’s a preview of Jan below, and–spoiler alert–Stephen Moyer is in a towel in within the first 10 seconds. It goes without saying, but dude looks good.

I’m looking forward to seeing how the directors manage to cram these character’s stories into just eight minutes, and so far, the channel shows promise. What do you think, BUSTies?
