Get Into Rap Battles With Famous Comedians at NY Funny Songs Fest

by Tess Duncan

Comedy week doesn’t have to stop after Saturday! As part of the second annual New York Funny Songs Fest, you can get your shits and giggles on in June too, at the CD release party for Brooklyn-based comedian, Rob Cantrell. You may know him for his LOL-able raps about being “married n shit” (below) and chillin’ at a laundromat. Head over to Joe’s Pub at 425 Lafayette Street in NYC on Saturday, June 1st to see Cantrell spit some rhymes off his new album, Keep On the Grass, in the whitest way possible. Plus Tiger vs. Cobra will be DJing and comedienne, writer, and fellow Comedy Central star, Emily Heller, will perform.

BUT the fun doesn’t stop there. There’s gonna be a (W)rap party following the release, hosted by Carolyn Castiglia of Our Hit Parade! Starting at around 1am, you can expect to see some hilarious bits from Boris Khaykin aka Hardcore Boris (College Humor), Victor Varnado (Comedy Central, Conan), Shockwave (Freestyle Love Supreme, The Electric Company, The Daily Show), and Mara Herron aka Beena Steena (VH1), to name a few. Shit’s sure to get cray when hip-hop improv is involved. You can battle and cypher with the featured comedians!

The CD release party starts at 11:30pm and entry is $12 for both events, plus one $12 item minimum. (W)rap party begins at 1am! Getcho tix and hip-hop your ass over there!
