From Rehab to Collab: Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry

by emily dirienzo

The Fred Perry label continues it’s nearly fifty-year old romance with the music industry as it teams up British songstress and style icon Amy Winehouse for a new line of retro chic clothing. The collaboration puts a feminine twist on the classic label, incorporating the brand’s staple looks with Winehouse’s unconventional sex appeal.

In hindsight, the pairing of the two seems obvious and inevitable like Kate Moss for Topshop or the Cardigans’ Nina Persson for Hope, but the end product is anything but predictable.

The seventeen-piece collection is subtle in its rebellion, mixing in rosy pinks as a contrast to the line’s typically masculine prints and cuts. Expect lots of pattern play with this collection; ginghams, houndstooths and argyles all receive a makeover thanks to Winehouse who has created a line that translates well from the office to the rock show.  The twinset never looked this cool.
