FREE HUGS! #TheHugStation Comes to Union Square

by Sonia Edwards

Is it just me, or has this been the loooonnngest week ever? And the news has certainly not given us much to lift our spirits, what with the tragic turn of events in Ferguson, the loss of some incredible talent, the horrible violence in Israel and Palestine—ugh. I need a hug. If you do, too, (and you’re in NYC) head on over to Union Square this Tuesday and get one for free!

No, I don’t mean from those randos outside Forever 21 who write “FREE HUGS” on a piece of paper and kind of smell. Artist Jean Grae is bringing #TheHugStation to New York on August 19th. Starting at 3pm, come to the Hug Station to give hugs and get hugs, freestyle or off a special Hug Menu.

Grae encourages everyone to bring friends, balloons, kittens, smiles, music or just your amazing self. She also encourages non-New Yorkers to start a Hug Station in their own cities and to let her know about it. Because, let’s face it, we all could use a hug.
