Fred Armisen Promotes Portlandia in NYC

by Intern Courtney

Fred Armisen of SNL (and virtually every indie comedy film or TV show of the last 10 years) will be doing NYC in-store appearances on December 4th and 5th to promote the release of Portlandia: Season One on DVD and Blu-Ray. The stellar IFC comedy series, which stars Fred and Sleater Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein, will be out in stores on December 6.

We’re obsessed with Portlandia (which lovingly skewers Portland, Oregon) and its recurring characters, like the feminist bookstore owners, decorators who encourage you to “put a bird on it!”, and a militant bike messenger. The discs contain all six episodes of the first season, accompanied by a plethora of bonus materials, like a blooper reel, extended scenes, deleted scenes, and commentary with Fred, Carrie, and director Jonathan Krisel. In other words, it’s a must-buy.

See Fred in the flesh on December 4th at 1:30 pm at the NBC Store in Rockefeller Center, or on December 5th at 12:30 pm at J&R Music World (23 Park Row). Portlandia: Season One discs also contain a preview of the second season, which premiers on IFC Friday, January 6, 2012 (check your local listings for airtimes).

If you haven’t seen the brilliance that is Portlandia yet, check the trailer for a little taste:[video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0aC8aj5Y30]
