Fox News Really Is Evil To The Core

by Grace Easterby

Gretchen Carlson, ex co-host of “Fox and Friends” and news reporter on Fox News, was let go this past June after 11 years with the network. Carlson is now suing the Fox News CEO, stating Roger Ailes decidedly didn’t renew her contract after she confronted him about the blatant sexism that takes place at Fox News and rejected his sexual advances. This isn’t the first time Carlson has publicly opposed the norms at Fox News; in 2013 she revealed the mandatory “no-pants rule” she was subjected to on “Fox and Friends” and has vocalized her support for assault rifle bans

Cue the onslaught of hate from both sides. Expectedly, Fox News supporters are rejecting her claims, dismissing her creditability as a woman. But, possibly even more upsetting are the reactions from supposed liberal allies, who are claiming she should have expected this treatment working for Fox News or stating we can’t possibly take her seriously after she spewed hate for 11 years. And while Fox News certainly does spew hate and we aren’t at all surprised to hear that sexual harassment takes place within the establishment, that’s absolutely no reason to dismiss her.

Sexual harassment is real and harmful within any workplace, and support should be given to all victims. We #StandWithGretchen and hope the best for her throughout this lawsuit.
