FROM EPIC FEASTS to tasty treats, we’re bombarded with many delicious foods during the holidays. If you’ve ever taken a bite out of a burrito only to find that most of your lipstick ended up on the tortilla rather than staying on your lips, it’s understandable if you want to go bare-lipped for family meals. But guess what? You don’t have to! There are tons of transfer-resistant lipsticks out there, and the BUST staff decided to put them to the test. Below, find out which lipsticks stayed on our lips after eating. (And making out!)
Maybelline Super Stay Matte vs. Emily’s Pasta
Maybelline’s Super Stay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick in Ruler ($10.99, maybelline.com) kept my lips saturated in deep, brick-red color throughout a bowl of my homemade chicken sausage and kale pasta. It felt dry but it got the job done, and it even stayed put during an impromptu, after-dinner smooch session. By the end of the night, I practically had to chisel it off. –Emily Rems
Urban Decay Vice Lip Bond vs. Niesha’s Coffee Break
Urban Decay’s long-lasting liquid lipsticks are the real deal. Vice Lip Bond Raw Footage ($27, urbandecay.com) is the perfect dark reddish-brown shade for the cooler winter months. The lipstick gave a crust-less matte finish, and my lips stayed colorful after my afternoon coffee break. –Niesha Davis
Haus Labs by Lady Gaga Atomic Shake Lip Lacquer vs. Marie’s Cosmos and Giant Salad
Naturally, I had to wear the Haus Labs Atomic Shake Lip Lacquer ($26, hauslabs.com) to see Lady Gaga’s jazz concert in Las Vegas. Ruby Shine, a bright, badass red, is not for the weak. It lasted through a couple of cosmos, a gigantic-ass salad, and two tacos with minimal lift—it put on a show as good as Gaga herself! –Marie Lodi
GXVE by Gwen Stefani I’m Still Here Performance Matte Liquid Lipstick vs. Emily’s Brussels Sprouts and Chicken Sandwich
If there’s one thing Gwen Stefani is known for besides singing, it’s her signature red lip. I wore Fishnets ($24, gxvebeauty.com) on a fancy, cloth-napkin-restaurant date, and I loved the vivid berry shade and how lightweight it felt on my mouth. But after a cocktail, Brussels sprouts, and a honey chicken sandwich, I had a smudge of red lipstick across my chin, and there were spots where the color had worn away near my chompers. –E.R.
MAC Locked Kiss 24HR Lipstick vs. Marie’s Steak and Martinis
MAC’s Locked Kiss 24HR Lipstick ($33, maccosmetics.com) has a velvety-soft feel that’s nice and lightweight on my lips, and Ruby True is the ultimate red shade. While there was a bit of transfer in the middle of my pout, it still looked damn good after having two martinis, a steak, and fettuccine Alfredo! –M.L.
