Fall in Love With Andrea Diodati’s Whimsical Fall 2013 Collection

by Kristina Uriegas-Reyes

Andrea Diodati’s Fall 2013 collection, titled The White Fall, is a collection made up of cotton candy separates and sugary sweet styling. In NYC’s lovely All Souls Chapel, the scene was set with sparkling lemonade, pink cotton candy via Handsome Dan’s and a live performance by songstress and pianist, Nibia. The styling of the models and overall vibe of the show were initially reminiscent of Meadham Kirchhoff S/S’12, but the show soon took on a life of its own. Inspired by textures from vintage cheerleading uniforms and white birch tree branches, the intimate runway show was not only memorable for it’s fanciful styling, but for its sweet, wearable pieces.

As a designer, Diodati started out outlandishly cute, designing under the name Electric Love Light as seen on Sundance Channel’s All on the Line. But her designs have since transformed into delightful, upscale creations with a whole lot of wearability. Don’t get me wrong, I love fantabulous, confection-like clothing, but I also appreciate a show with whimsical pieces that can easily be incorporated into a wardrobe, not to mention a runway with models of varying size. With dresses named like “Dance Me To Dream” and “Kiss the Clouds,” how could I not fall for Diodati’s twee-rrific collection?
