As far as crafts go, embroidery could totally win a popularity contest these days—but not a diversity one. Enter Krystle Collins of Create the Culture Embroidery (@createtheculture_embroidery). Capturing the textured kinks, coils, and curls in Black hair, Collins has stitched Black icons from Beyoncé and Solange, to Biggie Smalls and Tupac, to Lauryn Hill, Malcolm X, Sade, and more. And her craft is not confined to hoops; her works on sweatshirts, tees, pillows, and tote bags are all available on Etsy (createtheculture.etsy.com), along with a myriad of beginners’ kits so you can stitch your own Knowles sis homage.
