Ear Candy Alert: “Hooray for Earth” at Pianos Throughout November!

by Larissa Dzegar
Fans and music addicts be warned, the New York and Boston-based club/thrash/pop band, Hooray for Earth, have a residency in New York City’s legendary Pianos every Wednesday throughout November!
Stereogum.com saw them at CMJ and wrote them up as, “Hooray For Earth framed themselves as proper players, stewing electronics, nimble but unpretentious guitars, a sense of progressive psychedelics and percussive progressions.” Their album, Momo, has gotten a lot of buzz; Boston Globe’s Luke O’Neil reviewed it earlier this year, “Opener ‘Surrounded by Your Friends’ crystalizes the ethos at work here; it’s like a 1960s folk band tripping through space and time. If it hasn’t already been licensed for a half dozen commercial spots yet, don’t be surprised to hear it in some hip car company’s pitch, like tomorrow.” Watch their popular video below and see for yourself.
