Drunk J. Crew: icannntevin

by Rebecca Peterson

The internet can be a paradoxical place, whereby Yuppie brands appropriate radical social slogans for their own ends, and us plebeians can communally address other Yuppie brands with such pressing questions as, how drunk are J. Crew models, really?

Discussion has been spurred by Jen Ellison, whose Tumblr FAQ even calls out the fact that most of J. Crew’s male models don’t look drunk.

“They are more often photographed as assertive, rugged, hands-in-pockets, looking to get business done,” Jen wrote. “That seems to be industry standard for male models. Women are more likely to be draped over something, fuzzy headed, confused.”

Personally, I’m obsessed purely because these photos cast reflection upon my freshman year of college (before my beaded cashmeres got covered in Fireball).

You can follow her for yourself on Twitter @drunkjcrewuguys and Tumblr. But be careful. Apparently, there is an impostor on Facebook and Instagram. The meme has taken on a life of its own.
