I love “Downton Abbey.” There’s something wonderfully charming about the show’s nostalgic atmosphere and strong, witty characters. Its world is extravagant, luxurious, sometimes pointless, but always beautiful. Luckily for me and other fans, the show will soon be launching a new plethora of goods, sure to empty my wallet and fill my tiny apartment.
“We’ll be working across an entire range of products coming out this year. From fashion, apparel and homeware and furniture to wallpapers, beauty products and stationary,” Gareth Neame, the show’s executive producer and Carnival Film’s managing director, told CNBC.
Yes, please! My landlord may not allow the wallpaper, but a good chair and perhaps a writing desk would be lovely. The new products are sure to go nicely with some of the DA products already available through PBS, including DVDs, books, puzzles (my favorite is of Lady Violet and Cora), t-shirts, and tote bags.
My personal favorite.
If you prefer something with a more personal touch, Etsy is a great place to look. There are some darling wood cameo coasters by Peppersprouts and beautiful custom hats by RanaHats that look just like something Lady Edith would wear.
Can I wear this every day?
Now, I don’t recommend getting everything that the Abbey itself has. A full staff of a butler, cook, secretary, cleaning staff, groundspeople, and a gamekeeper or two can set you back a good $600,000 to $1,000,000 a year. Luckily, I don’t think my apartment could hold even one other person, so I’ll dust my own fancy knick-knacks and see if I can have tea delivered.
