46-year-old Liverpool resident Sean O’Brien became known as the “Dancing Man” after photos of him were published online with the caption, “spotted this specimen trying to dance the other week. He stopped when he saw us laughing.” The photos drew the attention of body-shaming Internet bullies as well as of a group of ladies in L.A. who wanted to “do something special” for him. Roughly 2,000 women threw Sean a “VIP dance party” after tracking him down through their social media campaign.
As more and more people rally behind him, O’Brien has found new support in the form of burlesque queen Dita Von Teese. The pair had lunch together yesterday, with Von Teese posting the above photo with the caption, “I picked him up in my 1953 Cadillac and he treated me to my favorite food, tacos!” It’s great to see someone who also receives a fair amount of attention for her body show support for O’Brien, proving that no matter what you look like, we all deserve to express ourselves without shame or fear. We hope the bullies take note and learn a thing or two about respect, and we definitely want to find out if the Dancing Man left lunch with some new signature Von Teese moves!
