David Bowie’s New Vid: Marion Cotillard and Gary Oldman Get Sinful

by Laurel Walsh

Wowza, David Bowie. You done it again.

“The Next Day” is the third video from his new album of the same name. It was written and conceived by Bowie, and he also stars in the vid. As usual our man’s in good company; this time he acts alongside A-listers Gary Oldman and Marion Cotillard, with direction by Floria Sigismondi.

The video plays out as follows: while Bowie croons about death and pain in a dingy church brothel, Oldman courts Cotillard in slo-mo on the dance floor – until the whole thing escalates to full on stigmata and Christ references. I saw this as Sirius Black and Edith Piaf dirty dancing and then bleeding out in front of David Bowie Jesus. So no complaints, really.

See for yourself, and tell us what you think in the comments below. A warning: this shit’s graphic.
