5 Cute Curl Products That Cost Less Than A Movie Ticket

by Lianna Remigio

Congratulations! You’ve made “the big chop,” decided to go “natural,” or you’re just looking to bring new love to your curls.

Well the first thing you’re going to notice is it ain’t cheap!

Seriously.

In the summer of 2015, I made the decision finally do the big chop and go natural after years of abusing my curls with hair dryers and flat irons. After my Deva cut, I was recommended to try some Devacurl products. I purchased large bottles of their shampoo cleanser and conditioner, a curl cream, some gel, and a spray to set my curls. I was ready to purchase had over $150 of product in my cart. For 5 items! The first few months of using Deva went well, but I found that of all the products I bought and used, only 2 seemed to really work for my hair. I had wasted my money.

Don’t be me. Save yourself some money and buy samples of hair products before buying the full sized product. Also, if you can’t afford a higher end brand, there are tons of curly hair products for all curl patterns that you can get for low! I’m talking $10 or less.

Here’s a list of my favorite curly hair products for a bargain:

1. Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioning Repair Cream$5.97

Cantu Leave in
This was my favorite summer-time “leave in” when I was swimming in pools all day long. I used this to avoid the dreaded pool hair! It smells wonderful and a little goes a long way. Apply to wet hair for best results.

2. “One ‘n Only” Argan Oil Curl Cream Derived from Moroccan Argan Tress,  $7.69

One n Only curl cream
This curl cream is perfect for flawless and weightless, frizz-free curls. The best thing about this is that is doesn’t leave your curls scrunchy or dry. It’s the perfect combination of hold and moisture.

3. Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus Curling Shampoo, $9.99

Curl Shampoo
A must-have product from a must-have brand! I shampoo my hair with this product twice a week to rinse out product build up and oils from my hair. Formulated to ensure no loss in moisture, the curling shampoo delivers the perfect amount of nutrients and scents to your hair without any of the post “hair wash” day frizz.

4. Aussie Moist 3-Minute Miracle, $2.99

3 Minute Miracle
For the curly Q on the go, this product is a literal life saver. The number of mornings that I didn’t have time in the to wash my hair before school and this purple bottle came through! I stick my head in the sink to drench it, apply generously to my hair, brush my teeth, wash my face, and rinse out. You’re left with extremely fresh curls in just 3 minutes time.

5. Organix Quenching Plus Curls Conditioner, Coconut, $7.99

Coconut curls
The magic of coconut! This conditioner is excellent for daily use. You literally feel your hair being hydrated just upon rinsing out. The OGX brand has many wonderful products for curls but this is my absolute favorite. Sometimes i don’t rinse it out all the way for a little extra added protection when styling.

All of these products can be found in your local beauty supply store, pharmacy, or on Amazon.
