Craftacular Vendor Spotlight: Loop of the Loom

by Erika W. Smith

Loop of the Loom is home to New York City’s first certified SAORI method studio, gallery, and loom distributor – and they’re coming to the BUST Magazine Craftacular!

SAORI is a contemporary hand weaving program founded by Misao Jo in Japan in 1969. She created her own loom and style called SAORI, from the Zen word “Sai,” meaning everything has its own individual dignity, and “Ori,” meaning weaving. SAORI is a hand weaving method in which everyone can express themselves freely; no two weavings are alike.

Loop of the Loom offers classes and workshops for both adults and children. Students create beautiful original tapestries, clothing, scarves, bags, and other items.

Loop of the Loom will be doing a weaving demo at the BUST Magazine Craftacular at World Maker Faire. Come see them on Saturday, September 29 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, September 30 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can buy tickets for the event here. You can also check out the Loop of the Loom website here.
