Can nature heal itself after all the damage humans have done? Hiro Technologies thinks it is possible. Hiro is setting out to create diapers that are decomposed by mushrooms! Parents know that the amount of diapers they go through seems never ending, in the US over 18 billion diapers are thrown away and each can take over 400 years to break down in a landfill. HIRO’s “MycoDigestible Diapers” use the power of fungi to break down diapers faster and turn what was plastic waste into soil.
We are in an environmental crisis. Plastic waste is taking over our oceans. Microplastics are in our food, water and our bodies. We have to make a change and we needed to make this change decades ago. One small change we can do is utilizing the power of fungi. Mushrooms have enzymes that can break down the carbon chains in plastic and transform it into soil and mycelium.
