Carmen Dell’Orefice has now been working as a model for OVER SEVENTY YEARS. The legendary fashionista appeared on the cover of Vogue at age 15 in 1946 — and this week, she walked the runway to close Guo Pei’s couture show at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. She looked just as gorgeous and glamorous and ever, proving that style has no age.
Guo Pei is a Chinese couturier who you may know as the designer behind Rihanna’s epic yellow Met Gala gown from 2015. Pei titled her latest collection “Legend,” and appropriately chose Dell’Orefice for the role of the “bride” who traditionally closes couture shows. Dell’Orefice wore a gorgeous red gown — complete with a cape, of course — and was joined on the runway by two young male models. #goals.
Dell’Orefice previously walked the runway for Guo Pei in 2010, looking just as amazing.
The Cut notes that Dell’Orefice is one of several working senior models proving that it’s impossible to age out of style. This fall, Lauren Hutton, age 73, walked the runway for Bottega Veneta, and Jacalyn O’Shaughnessy, age 64, walked the runway for Tome.
Needless to say, this is one “trend” we hope becomes permanent.
