Cardi B Joins Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show,” Continues to Slay Us All

by Anna Wesche

Cardi B. performed on the The Tonight Show  Wednesday night and also sat down for a quick interview, an early holiday gift to us all.

The “Bodak Yellow” singer joined Jimmy Fallon dressed in a festive Rubin Singer green fur-and-satin top and teased-up hair, sporting some decked-out nails that easily upstaged the late-night host, and probably anyone else who happened to be around her.

Cardi shared the background on her name (a spinoff of the liquor brand “Bacardi”), talked about her home borough, the Bronx, and showed off her rockin’ engagement ring from rapper fiancé Offset, but warned the cameras, “Don’t get too close because I ain’t put no lotion on my hand.”

Fallon was taken aback by Cardi’s no-filter personality (we love it), and couldn’t contain his laughter when she frequently called out with her signature, “prrrrr!” tongue roll. He attempted his own version a few times towards the end of the interview, but can you really compete with the reigning queen of hip hop?

Besides becoming the first solo female rapper to claim the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, this December Cardi became the first female rapper to send her first three Billboard Hot 100 singles to the top 10.

“I’m so proud of myself,” she commented confidently during the interview.

Her new single “Bartier Cardi” dropped today, and to repeat the singer herself: “Y’all go get that.”

Prrrrr!
