Hansel & Gretel is one of those twisted fairytales I personally enjoyed as a kid. I mean, getting stuffed alive into an oven is scary as all get out, but it wasn’t the typical damsel-in-distress story that a lot of the fairytales that we grew up on were.
This holiday season, there’s a special treat because New York City’s Metropolitan Opera is presenting Hansel & Gretel, the opera: Engelbert Humperdinck’s (not that Humperdinck) take on the Brothers Grimm classic fairytale. If you’ve never been to an opera before, this one’s perfect for any noob ‘cause it’s in English!
Since you BUST readers have been nice all year, we’re giving THREE BUSTies a pair of tickets each for the Thursday, Dec. 17th show at 8pm.
To win, you must email me the answer to this question:
In the Brothers Grimm version of Hansel & Gretel, what was their evil stepmother’s reason for getting rid of Hansel & Gretel?
Email your answer to SheilaJ@bust.com by midnight on Monday, Dec. 14.
All winners can pick up the tickets at BUST headquarters or we can email them out! Good luck!
