The “Modern Madam” experience at 28on27 puts a new spin on boudoir photography for ladies seeking sexy, classy keepsakes of themselves. Although most clients sport lingerie in the traditional style of boudoir shoots, photographer Laura Little keeps the whole project open to interpretation. The women can wear whatever they like, as motivations range from gifts for fiancées and spouses to simply pride in the beauty of their bodies. Even a 62-year-old has gotten in on the action, rocking a Kimono and a flower in photos for her 28th anniversary. The photography studio provides everything the client will need: professionally applied makeup and styled hair, as well as additional accessories, time, and styling upon request. The regular session consists of 60 minutes with a female photographer, usually Little herself.
The photographer explains that this is one of her favorite types shoots. “What’s fun is meeting the people, knowing their stories, and then taking the pictures,” says Little. “Most women have never had their hair and makeup done. That experience alone makes them so happy. When they see the change it’s amazing, they are so thankful and appreciative. It’s much more fulfilling for me personally than shooting a fashion editorial, it also makes me happy.” Little has now created these discrete mementos for over 70 women.
