BUST Invades MACROCK, Your New Favorite Independent Music Fest

by BUST Magazine

What better way to get stoked on spring than with awesome music, food, and art in the good ol’ South? On April 4th and 5th, the annual music conference, MACROCK, will return in its 17th year to the windy city of Harrisonburg, VA. The festival supports independent artists by featuring about 100 up-and-coming musicians and bands at venues in the downtown area, as well as hosting record labels and local vendors at a label exposition in the basement of extremely delicious Ethiopian restaurant, the Blue Nile.

Each year, MACROCK also holds panel discussions about important issues and hot topics relevant to the organization’s DIY mission. This year, BUST Magazine’s own music editor, Tess Duncan, will be a panelist at Scribe or Die: Chats on Music Journalism! She’ll talk with attendees about the state of print and online media, music sharing, and the overall reach of music journalism, alongside Andrew Necci of Richmond, VA’s RVA Mag and Madeline Billhimer & Brian Moran of DC’s Sweet Tea and Pumpkin Pie blog. The event will take place at Larkin Arts at 1pm on Saturday, April 5th.

So come hang in the Friendly City and see some rad bands including but not limited to: the Wives, Ex-Cult, Diarrhea Planet, Grass is Green, Pachangacha, LVL Up, Ex Hex, the Diamond Center, Low Branches, and Springtime.
