Meet Emma Watkins, a 23-year-old dancer from Australia, and your new Wiggle!
If you don’t already know and love the Wiggles (which is totally possible if you’re over age five) let me fill you in. For over two decades, four grown men in different colored shirts and striped leggings have finger-wagged their way into the hearts of babies and little kids worldwide. They’ve been Australia’s top-grossing entertainers, they’ve had multiple TV shows, and they’ve written such lyrical treasures as Toot Toot Chugga Chugga and Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy.
Those might not float your boat or fill your iTunes, but girl. I’ve actually seen the Wiggles perform live, and they were super cute. They even set up a meet and greet with my little bro and other children with disabilities. Wiggles rule.
Three of them are retiring this year (Greg, Murray, and Jeff) while the blue-shirted Wiggle (Anthony) isn’t letting go of his “colourful skivvies” just yet. Emma is set to wear the yellow shirt – a top spot if you know your Wiggles hierarchy, like m’self.
She danced back-up for the group for about years, but now she’s smashed that Wiggly glass ceiling and found herself in the big leagues! Congrats, Emma.
Learn more about Emma here, where she speaks about dance as the winner of the Australian dance competition, My Mutation.
UPDATE: This original article had the wrong age for Watkins. She is 23-years-old, not 20-years-old.
