Are you a lady who plays the drums? Do you love jamming with other lady drummers? Do you love gathering with other lady drummers to celebrate lady drummers?
Tom Tom Magazine, the only publication dedicated to female drummers and beatmakers, are hosting a NYC subway station take-over by 100 lady drummers! These musicians will be performing in various subway stations on Saturday, October 20 from 5 PM to 7 PM. They will then all be uniting together for a “grand finale” performance from 6:30 to 7 PM in Union Square.
If you’re a woman who likes to beat it, and you want to join the celebration, shoot an e-mail to [email protected] with the subject line “Subway Drummer.” Be sure to tune up and warm up before you come, and feel free to team up with a fellow girl beatmaker! Tom Tom Mag will have buckets available, but try to bring your own instrument for the subway station extravaganza. There will also be “t-shirt tagging” by Tom Tom Magazine, so be sure to bring a shirt to spare.
Everyone involved will be meeting at 349 Hancock Street at 3 PM to plan and prepare, so don’t be late!
But the night doesn’t end here, ladies…
Tom Tom Mag and LOXM will be hosting a CMJ showcase at an art space, FreeCandy on 905 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn. The show will be $8 and will feature the bands Batala NYC, 12000 Trees, Trabajo, the Japanese band ZZZ’s, The Suzan, and Unkle Yva Punkfaggot. Plus, DJ Hottmomz will be spinning all night long.
Be sure to stick around, because after midnight, there will be a drum jam!
