Bare in the Air for Breast Cancer

by Intern Christina

Have you ever ziplined? It involves an invigorating slide on a line while holding onto a bar above your head. Have you ever ziplined naked? It involves, well, nudity. And for 100 women in British Columbia, it involves charity.

ZipZone Adventures is holding its second annual nude ziplining event June 21. Billed as ZipZone Naked 100, the zipline park hopes to enlist the help of 100 women to zipline in various stages of undress. Each participant is being asked to raise at least $100 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Research Foundation and the goal is to raise at least $20,000.

This seems all kinds of intimidating to me, but the event drew massive attention.

“It looks like we’re going to be oversubscribed,” said ZipZone President Kevin Bennett.

One woman has even taken to a local online forum to ask for donations in exchange for the donator’s name or business name to be painted on her body. Anyone can participate by mailing a check to anyone attending the event or they can be mailed to ZipZone at Box 1064, Peachland, BC, V0H 1X0.

Sounds pretty awesome. Although you won’t catch me flying free and nude anytime soon, this could inspire us all to do something crazy for charity. After all, when’s the last time your stripped your wallet or your clothes for a good cause?
