This music is straight bangin’, pun intended.
Macy Gray is back with a music video that’s as dusky and devilish as her unmistakable voice, and twice as deadly. The video for “Bang Bang” is Bond-style debauchery at its sexiest with slow motion high-stakes poker, complete with dirty dancing, and some killer call girls in killer lingerie. The new single is off Gray’s upcoming eighth studio album “The Way,” out October 7th.
Not 24 hours after the release of this video, the Jessie J/Ariana Grande/Nicki Minaj collab dropped, also entitled “Bang Bang”. It’s high-energy, booty-shaky – in short, a total earworm. Just what you’d expect from these pop goddesses. Some sites are even going so far as to call it this generation’s “Lady Marmalade”. That’s a bit of a stretch if you ask me, but I guess we’ll just have to wait for the video before we can really compare the two.
Now, this one’s a throwback and a personal favorite of mine. Remember Lady Sovereign? It’s okay if you don’t, but you should probably look her up right now. She’s a raunchy, peppery rapper from London who put out two albums, had a few big hits and then, much to my chagrin, promptly dropped off the face of music (she’s still alive and well on twitter, though!). This song’s off her 2009 album Jigsaw, and I’m just gonna let you guess what the name of it is.
Last but most definitely not least, the ultimate throwback. Ladies and gents, the lovely, always-relevant Nancy Sinatra.
That’s all for now, lovely readers. I hope you all have a bangin’ day.
